The fine print
Privacy & terms
The short version: we collect as little as we can, we do not sell it, you keep the rights to what you write, and nothing on this site is financial advice.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, your email and a securely hashed password. We never store the password itself.
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is removed when you sign out.
- Messages you send us through the contact form or the advertising form.
- Drafts stay in your own browser until you submit them.
- Two notes in your own browser: whether you chose the light theme, and when you last opened the front page, so that stories newer than that can be marked as new. Both stay on your device and are never sent to us.
The fonts, styles and scripts are served from this site, so reading a page does not call any font or advertising service. Pictures on stories load from the publisher that owns them, without telling that publisher which page you were on. The publisher's server sees your internet address when it sends a picture, as any website you visit does, and a few of them send a cookie of their own with it. That cookie is theirs, not ours, and this site never reads it.
If analytics is switched on, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets its own cookies and shows us totals, not names. We do not use advertising trackers. Our host keeps standard server logs for security.
What we do with it
We use it to run your account, review your articles and reply to you. We do not sell or rent personal data. To delete your account and everything linked to it, contact us.
Using the site
- Not financial advice. Nothing on BTC Daily Wire is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. We never say buy or sell, and we do not publish price predictions.
- Prices and network numbers come from third parties: Coinbase, Kraken, Blockstream and Blockchair. They can be delayed or wrong. Do not rely on them to trade or to send a payment.
- “Price then / now” on a story page is context. It is not a claim that the story moved the price.
- Headlines and excerpts come from the publishers credited on each story. Full articles belong to them.
- BTC Daily Wire is independent. It is not affiliated with any exchange, mining company, wallet maker, ETF issuer or software project.
- All times on the site are UTC.
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
Articles you submit
- You keep the copyright. By submitting, you let us publish the article, edit it for length and clarity, and promote it.
- You confirm that it is your original work and does not break anyone else's rights.
- We can decline or remove any piece, for example if it proves inaccurate or promotes a coin or product.
