Miner Weekly: Bitcoin Hashrate Shrugs off the AI Unplug, Regaining 1 ZH/s Level

Big public miners are making room for artificial intelligence (AI). Bitcoin’s hashrate is climbing anyway. The network’s seven-day average has regained 1 zettahash per second—1,000 EH/s—over the past week and reached its highest level since March 3. That rebound is especially interesting given how much mining capacity the public companies have been shedding. The recovery is showing up in difficulty. Bitcoin’s mining difficulty rose 5.92% on October 16, and the pace of block production so far in the current difficulty epoch points to another estimated 5.16% increase in about seven days. That estimate will move as more blocks arrive, but for now, the network is on course for two substantial increases in a row. That’s hardly the breathing room remaining miners might have expected from the AI migration.
