Gold below $4,000 and bitcoin below $80,000 is the picture traders woke up to on 27 October 2026. Spot gold traded at $3,995.84 at 08:38 UK time, down 0.52% on the day, according to Trading Economics. Bitcoin closed 26 October at $79,722 on the Yahoo daily bar, with an intraday low of $79,343.66, as Tech Insider reported. The short answer to why both fell is forced selling. A sharp AI-stock selloff on 22 October triggered margin calls. Investors then raised cash by selling liquid assets that had performed well. Gold and bitcoin were among them. A hawkish Federal Reserve and real yields near 2.7% added pressure. Brent crude above $110 did the same.
