FINMA has approved what it described as Switzerland’s first Bitcoin ETF for retail investors, marking a new step for direct Bitcoin investment products in the country. In its Tuesday announcement, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority said the fund will invest directly in Bitcoin and be open to retail buyers. The regulator linked the move to growing interest in cryptocurrency investments, especially Bitcoin, and added that several fund providers have either submitted or announced Bitcoin ETF applications. While the decision removes a major regulatory obstacle, FINMA did not name the issuer behind the product and did not provide a launch date. The new decision allows a retail-accessible fund that invests directly in Bitcoin, according to FINMA.
