The world's largest Bitcoin ETF issuer wants to sell investors upside exposure with a safety net attached BlackRock wants to give nervous Bitcoin investors a seatbelt. On October 19, 2026, the asset manager filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for the iShares Bitcoin Managed Protection ETF. The pitch is simple. Investors get upside exposure tied to BlackRock’s flagship iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT), plus a layer of downside protection. The proposed fund is designed to track gains linked to IBIT while limiting losses when the market turns. BlackRock has not publicly disclosed a ticker symbol, a fee structure, or a launch timeline for the product. The fund would sit on top of IBIT rather than holding Bitcoin through some entirely new structure.
